Georgia
Peskett is inspired by the everyday. Within
her paintings even the most ordinary and
mundane subject matter can be beautiful. Executed
in oils, each piece captures the moment
and the impression it makes upon the senses.
Reflections play a large part in her work,
giving
the viewer the feeling of peering through layers,
seeing not only one level, but several at once.
The images are carefully rendered on to the canvas
using oils in a series of glazes. This allows
the artist to build up a high level of detail.
“ I am continually in the process of discovering
new places, often finding inspiration in situations
where people happen to be, if only momentarily,
in a transitory state. This theme runs
throughout my work. In my recent collection,
which focuses upon some of the influences of
urban alienation, the viewer often finds the
subject in a more reflective pose.”
