Philippe
Vasseur was born in November 1954 in Lisieux,
France. At eighteen, Vasseur left
Normandy to enrol at the London Academy of Drawing.
A year later he was admitted into the
prestigious Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts
in Paris, where he studied drawing and art
history. His work received immediate recognition.
While he was still in school, his drawings
were exhibited in Parisian galleries and in 1976
Gallimard, the famous book publisher, placed
the
twenty-one-year-old visionary on the map by creating
engaging jacket covers with his images.
Since 1990, several distinguished Parisian and
New York galleries have shown Vasseur’s
intriguing work and now vie to host further exhibitions.
The Cynthia Corbett Gallery is delighted to have
exhibited Philippe Vasseur’s work for the
first
time at The London Art Fair, Islington, in January
2005 and to be showing a selection of his
new paintings at Art London 2005. |
