This
year our Art London exhibition comprises
works by three major contemporary Scottish
painters who also enjoy printmaking and the use
of printmaking techniques to create either multiple
or one-off images. Oils, watercolours and original
prints by Elizabeth Blackadder cover the full
range of her current oeuvre from flowers to
still life,
from cats to Italian townscape. Victoria Crowe’s
paintings and prints reflect her own multi-layered
experience of Italy and its artistic heritage,
while her “sketchbook” collages are
fascinating evocations of her initial notes and
responses. Paintings, monotypes and screenprints
by Barbara Rae reveal this artist’s own
travels. Ireland is currently a major inspiration
but there
is also strong work from New Mexico, Arizona
and France. |
